Flaxseeds (also called Linseed), a simple crop but full of nutrients that is grown in many parts of the world. India is a major producer of flaxseeds. In every 100 gram of serving, flaxseed contains high levels (> 19%) of protein, dietary fiber, vitamin B, Selenium and other important minerals. Flaxseeds are very rich in thiamine, magnesium and phosphorus.

Flaxseeds contain 54% (highest) omega-3 fatty acids, 18% omega-9 fatty acids and 6% omega-6 fatty acids; the seeds also contain 9% saturated fat, including 5% as palmitic acid. Flaxseed oil contains 53% omega-3 fatty acids and 13% omega-6 fatty acids.
